Cristina M.R. Norcross has published over 50 short stories, poems and articles in literary magazines in England, Wales, the US, Canada and Algeria. She is also the author of several volumes of poetry, including The Red Drum and Unsung Love Songs.
Dammitjanet: As a child, dammitjanet wanted a man who would take care of the house while she went out and worked. Be careful what you wish for. Later on, she got herself a better man and started cooking with a vengeance. She loves books, movies, TV, bass players, and music, and she’s currently writing her 2nd play and 1st novel. This quote may best sum up her cooking style: “You remember her fabulous hospitality, her strange experimental cooking. Her recipe for “Duck à la Banana” fortunately goes with her to her grave.”
Doran: I have a deck, I have a grill and I have beer. It’s not at all uncommon for me to go months without ever using a stove or an oven and that includes the winter months. I love to barbecue and grill and worship at the altar of bacon. Sometimes while nude because that’s how bacon likes it.
Figgylicious is a displaced Honduran currently living in Dallas, TX. She loves talking about food, looking at food, making food, and eating food. She specially loves Latin American food, and she’ll sprinkle a little bit of lime on everything.
Julie Chase lives in West Philadelphia where her cooking is blessed by a $5 kitchen Madonna featuring baby Jesus and a waffle iron. I make a mean chicken piccata and French onion soup but am terrified of baking for the simple reason that exact measurements can kill. My mother will never understand how I can crave raw fish and tongue tacos and yet run screaming from the sight of ham. Because it’s EVIL, that’s why.
Kellie Bobellie is a seventh-generation Texan and second-generation Dallasite and is just getting the hang of this cooking thing.
LainieFig is a flighty mother living in a hippie town in upstate New York. Her husband recently said “Why go out to eat when you cook better meals here?” which made her day. Besides cooking and eating, she enjoys reading, sewing, teaching her kids to air-drum, and blogging.
Lifeneedschocolate is a stay-at-home mom in the middle of nowhere, Illinois. She lives off of coffee, books and cooking.
Pinky McLadybits: I like wearing pajamas, eating German chocolate cake, and thinking tingly thoughts about John Krasinski. Sometimes all at the same time.
Ranylt: She loves food. And words. So this was inevitable. Specialties: Italian, Szechuan, Bengali, Thai, cakes, preserves.
RebaSays: I write novels and short stories. I also enjoy cooking food, some of which I grow myself. The stories are fanciful. The food is basic, but tasty. Balance is good.
Rykker: My fondness for cooking was cultivated by my parents and paternal grandmother from an early age. (I’m kinda “meh” on baking, but I can do it if the need rises. Ha! Get it? Rises? Baking? [like, bread, and stuff?] Whatever…) I enjoy tantalizing the taste buds of my friends and family, and a woman with a healthy appetite is one of my favorite of ALL the things; part of the reason why I have major crushes on Rachael Ray (hush), Nigella, and Alexandra Guarnaschelli. Oh, and their mad culinary skills feed my own enjoyment of eating. Reading (mainly Sci-Fi and Fantasy), weight-training, martial arts, NASA, and convective weather systems (thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes) are some of my other interests.
Sara Habein writes both fiction and non-fiction and is the co-editor of Electric City Creative. You may win her love and appreciation with otherworldly sandwiches and pizza.
Saucywench69 is a lifelong resident of southern California and is married to a pirate who, in keeping with the code, washes all the dishes since she is the chef of the house. She knows she’s a lucky wench. She’s been cooking since she was a teenager and loves rustic cuisine and comfort food. Also: bread. Desserts are a specialty of hers and she would one day love to own her own bakery. She also enjoys Disneyland, the ocean, her photography, tv/movies and video games. Savvy?
Sharon: MyySharona cooks things. Lots of things. They’re not all fancy, but everything is damn good. And you will like it. Because that’s how it is. Now sit down and eat.
Siege: Having only recently been converted to cooking, my recipes are usually simple, nearly always unhealthy, and generally resemble something created by a 1950s housewife. The only cooking rule in our house (NOT my decision) is no cream of mushroom soup in the summer. I am trying to expand my cooking horizons without setting off the smoke alarms. My favorite foods are Tex-Mex and almost anything with cheese on it.
Ursula K: I am a big time food snob. I love to cook, I love to eat and I especially love to drink. I am particularly fond of the French. All my photos are taken with a Nikon D60.
